Bargain Balloons has received a lot of feedback about bunny heads, and we have made changes in the handling and shipping of them. This article will give you all the information you will need when ordering and blowing up your bunny heads.
1. We only carry two sizes of bunny heads: 16-inch and 35-inch, and changed the description of our air-fill bunny heads to include the size. The 16-inch requires heat sealing. We have taken a side-by-side picture with a measuring tape of both sizes of bunny heads for comparison.
Please read What is a balloon with a self-sealing valve and a balloon without a valve? for more information about self-sealing and air-fill balloons. If you are looking for more information on heat-sealing please read How to Heat-Seal Airfill Balloons.
2. Bunny heads are now being rolled instead of folded and put into bigger boxes. It is also now the last item put into an order so they are not crushed or folded.
3. Always clean your hands before touching a balloon and work on a clean surface to avoid fingerprints and marks on it.
4. When filling a bunny head with air or helium it is VERY important to use the correct machine and nozzle.
a. Helium: There are several different types of nozzles on the market used for filling latex, bubble, or foil balloons with helium. If you have a dual nozzle (see image below), you want to use the brass tip (1) nozzle because the helium is released with less pressure so it doesn't damage the balloon.
The black rubber tip (2) nozzle should only be used for latex or bubble (PVC) balloons. The rubber tip releases helium at an unregulated pressure for balloons that need the pressure to inflate. Using this tip can result in the self-sealing valve or seams of a foil balloon to damage– causing the balloon to leak and deflate.
b. Air-fill: There are several ways to inflate a balloon with air. Electric air pumps are great for filling latex and bubble balloons because they do not regulate the air pressure being released. However, if you use an electric air pump on a foil balloon, you risk damaging the self-sealing valve, causing the balloon to leak air and deflate. Using the wrong size nozzle tip can also damage a self-sealing valve because it will stretch the valve causing air leakage and deflation. If you need to use an electric air pump– for optimal results in air-filling foil balloons– you should use a slim nozzle and a pump that will allow you to control the air pressure going into a foil balloon.
c. Bargain Balloons recommends using a good quality air pump, such as Dual Action air pump (Click here to check Dual Action Pumps). They have a slim nozzle and you can control the pressure of air going into the bunny’s ears.
5. DO NOT insert the nozzle tip too far deep into the valve. This can damage the valve, causing leakage and deflation.
6. It is important to not over inflate a foil balloon (making it “hard”). Besides the obvious that it could pop— too much pressure can cause leakage from the valve or the seams of the balloon.
7. Because bunny heads have two ears that are chambers, it is important to stop before the head of the bunny is filled up and gently push on the face of the rabbit to move air into the ears. You will avoid leakage, deflation, and popping if you do this.
8. When you tie a ribbon to a balloon, be sure to tie the knot under the opening to the valve and not on it so you don’t damage the valve. This can also cause balloons to leak air.
9. Pay attention to the climate and temperature of the room your balloons are in. Balloons filled with helium or air will appear deflated because both air and helium shrink in cold temps. On the other hand, a hot room will cause gas and air to expand, making the balloon appear full or hard. Also, be mindful if you are fully filling up a foil balloon in a cool room and then moving it into a warmer environment– this can cause the balloon to leak air or pop.
STUFFING BALLOON TIP: A lot of people are using bunny heads to top stuffing balloons and we have gotten a lot of questions about how to make your stuffing balloon shine. DO NOT use tire shine or just any chemical to make your balloons shine. These chemicals will deteriorate the latex and can be toxic causing children or adults to get sick or have an allergic reaction. We strongly suggest only using Balloon Shine™ and HI-SHINE to make latex balloons more shiny or clear.
